Small Business & COVID-19: How Our Agency Can Help
With each passing day, we learn more about the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Please know that as the COVID-19 pandemic brings us into uncharted territory, we are committed to doing our part to minimize the spread of the virus while also providing responsive service to our customers.
We are a resource for you and your business during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many small businesses are struggling to stay afloat or meet the costs of doing business—including covering the cost of insurance premiums. If your business has come to a standstill due to the outbreak, we can offer you guidance about your options.
The California Dept of Insurance has mandated that all insurance carriers suspend policy cancellations for 60 days for non-payment of premium.
Some companies are offering payment flexibility, suspending policy cancellations due to nonpayment, or automatically renewing your policy even if you can't pay.
Many insurance companies are assisting customers with payments, including Liberty Mutual, CNA, Progressive, Chubb, Travelers, Nationwide, and The Hartford. If your insurance provider isn't on this list, contact us because your company may be providing some sort of assistance.
Small Businesses: Financial Hardship & COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has shuttered countless businesses. We worry about our family and friends, protecting the health of older relatives, or even worse, dealing with an infection. We understand that in these difficult times, you may need our support to provide guidance regarding all insurance matters. That’s why we continue to make ourselves available to answer any insurance questions you may have.
Protecting Your Family & Your Team
If your business is an essential service, protecting your employees and your customers is the primary concern. Guidance is available through both the CDC and OSHA. We are committed to supporting you and your business during the outbreak in any way we can.
Insurance Questions: Business & Commercial Insurance
Some, but not all, insurance policies have a coverage called Business Income, which covers loss of income due to an event that causes a business to cease operations. Normally, the type of event that triggers a Business Income claim is what is called a Direct Physical Loss, such as a fire, flood, or windstorm. But during this unprecedented pandemic, insurance companies will take a claim from any of their business policyholders to determine whether or not it is covered on your policy. You can call your insurance carrier directly at the claims phone number shown in your policy if you wish to open this type of claim. If you have trouble finding that number or need our help, give us a call or email your personal agent at our office.
The entire country is facing unprecedented challenges, and it is unknown when we will return to “business as usual.” By working together, our mutual efforts will bring the COVID-19 pandemic to an end, hopefully very soon. Our team of local agents is dedicated to assisting you in any way possible and supporting our community at large.
